Kevin Bruno ran a PR 2:42:02 only two weeks after a brave 2:52 at Cape Cod, and five weeks after running a 2:46 at the Schenectady Marathon. Yow!

Terry McNatt capped a season of first-rate x-country racing by winning the Nobel & Greenough 5K on a beautiful November morning in the wilds of Dedham. Terry toyed with the lead pack for 2 miles before stretching the lead and overpowering his pursuers in the final half mile over the scenic course. Terry's 15:59 led the tenacious CSU men to victory over a strong Tri-Valley Front Runners masters team, and a trio of Tuesday Night Turtles who were gunning for the win. After Terry, Scott Lundquist took third overall, Jon Waldron employed a rarely-used kick to overtake Geary Daniels for 6th place, and Henry Finch took 22nd to seal the victory. TNT took places 2, 4, and 5, to nearly counter CSU, but suffered a large gap before their fourth runner came in.
In the women's race, Sue McNatt gave Lynn Jennings a scare but settled for second place. Pat Robinson ran a strong sixth.

A nice day for the spectators, but tough (as always on this course) on the runners though. The CSU Women (Anna Brook, Ginger Arthur, Gail Heinrich) won the women's open team title over the BAA. The men appeared to have finished fourth (not yet confirmed by official results). The men's open relay team finished fourth in the relay race, which was held concurrently. Many, many thanks to Kim LeSage and her crew for providing the best marathon support a club could ask for.

One word, sports fans, "Wow!" In the men's race, you had to run 5:00 pace up Bear Cage Hill to make the top 50! There was Kevin Grant at 25:00 for 8K and stuck in 50th place. Terry McNatt tarried 13 ticks longer and found himself 14 places back in the pack at 64th (25:13). Jesse Darley was impressive in his first race in CSU colors.
This was the real deal... 280 crazed and nearly naked savages sprinting off into the bush. Considering the competition, it wasn't a bad day for the CSU harriers, who finished 11 out of 21 teams.

In the women's race, it was more of the same with a terrific battle up front between Kate Fonshell (16:37) and Kristin Beaney (16:39). It was extraordinarily deep, as Sue McNatt had to settle for 76th, despite a strong time.

Official race movie: "A River Runs Through It." Much of the course undersea, with pools up to a foot deep. Sue McNatt scores for Men's team and helps them to a 5th place finish. Terry McNatt crushes the entire field but one. Tommy Lynch shows up early, but opts for the IATC 5K (below). A memorable race. Plenty of water on the course, too.
