Wakefield Law Enforcement Half-marathon course review:
Overall Course Description:
The Wakefield half-marathon course is an out-and-back (miles 1-4 and 9-13)
with a looped middle part which goes through and around Breakheart reservation
(miles 4-9). The course can be classified as "gently rolling", with
only a few hills worth mentioning. The overall difficulty would rate somewhere in between old Melrose
half-marathon course and New Bedford half-marathon. The first half of the race features slightly more
downhills, while the second half is slightly uphill. Finish line is a few hundred meters short of
where you start.
Major attractions:
There are two uphill portions that stand out:
The first hill comes at about 7.3 miles
as the course makes a right turn from Lynn Fells Parkway onto Main Street. It starts
as a very subtle incline, but keeps increasing steadily. Overall duration of the hill is about
half a mile.
The second hill is a short but steep hill that comes at about 9.8 miles.
It's only about 150 meters long.
