Since its founding in 1962 by Sara Mae and Larry Berman, the Cambridge Sports Union has been one of New England's premier athletic clubs. The 250 women and men who make up the club range in experience and ability from beginners to nationally competitive athletes.

The running section organizes regular workouts for its members, coordinates team racing activities, and puts on a number of social events throughout the year. For those who are either new to the running scene or the New England area, CSU's friendly, collegial style fosters an excellent environment in which to meet training partners with similar goals and abilities.

Come Run Fresh Pond (or Volunteer!)
The summer Fresh Pond racing season is upon us: the first race is 2.5 miles on Thursday, June 5, at 6:30 pm. If you are new to CSU, you can find more info at the link above. ANYone can run -- you don't need to be a CSU member.

Meanwhile, we need to arrange for 2 volunteers for each Thursday evening between June 5 and August 28. The volunteer schedule is as follows:
June 5, 12, 19: Open+ Men
June 26, July 3, July 10: Open+ Women
July 17, 24, 31, August 7: Masters+ Men
August 14, 21, 28: Masters+ Women

If you have ever run Fresh Pond or benefited in any way from CSU, please consider volunteering once or twice. Remember, we are an all-volunteer Club and can't operate without everyone's help...

For now, I'm looking for a couple of Open Men for June 5 -- any candidates for the honor of kicking off the 2008 Season? (Older men and/or women are also eligible...) Please email me back, and we'll be off and running.

Thanks, and hope to see you at the Pond!
