Since its founding in 1962 by Sara Mae and Larry Berman, the Cambridge Sports Union has been one of New England's
premier athletic clubs. The 250 women and men who make up the club range in experience and ability from beginners
to nationally competitive athletes.
The running section organizes regular workouts for its members, coordinates team racing activities, and puts on a
number of social events throughout the year. For those who are either new to the running scene or the New England area,
CSU's friendly, collegial style fosters an excellent environment in which to meet training partners with similar goals
and abilities.
Come celebrate the last CSU Thursday night Fresh Pond race of the summer at 6:30 pm on August 30th. Then join us at the Alewife Bertucci's afterward for pizza and liquid refreshment! This last race of the Fresh Pond season is only 2.5 miles, and is open to everyone for a mere 50 cents. (20 cents a mile -- how is that for a bargain!)
The gathering at Bertucci's will focus on Fall Planning for CSU, including:
- CSU team and individual standings (Grand Prix, Pub race series, Yin Yang series) - Fall race plans and recruiting - Lake Winnipesaukee relay - Winter indoor track location - CSU member recruiting - Recognition party planning - CSU incorporation and 501(c)3 status - Potential web site upgrade/switch; use of PayPal - and more!
We will gather at Bertucci's around 7:15 or 7:30 pm. You don't have to run the race in order to join the Bertucci crowd for pizza. And you don't have to join the Bertucci crowd for pizza to run the race. (Got that?) There's free parking across the street from Bertucci's. Hope to see you there -- one place or the other... or both!
