Since its founding in 1962 by Sara Mae and Larry Berman, the Cambridge Sports Union has been one of New England's premier athletic clubs. The 250 women and men who make up the club range in experience and ability from beginners to nationally competitive athletes.

The running section organizes regular workouts for its members, coordinates team racing activities, and puts on a number of social events throughout the year. For those who are either new to the running scene or the New England area, CSU's friendly, collegial style fosters an excellent environment in which to meet training partners with similar goals and abilities.

Check out the Premiere 2007 CSU Yin Yang Series!
This year we are introducing what is sure to become a new CSU tradition -- the Yin Yang Race Series! A friendly competition among CSU members, this year’s Series includes 5 local races, evenly spread over the season and T-accessible. Bonus points awarded for volunteering.

Here is how it works: You must be a CSU member, wear CSU gear, and run at least 2 of the races to participate. Scoring is simple. In each race, the first-place CSU finisher by gender gets 15 points, second place 14 points, etc.; no one gets less than 5 points. If only 5 CSUers show up for a race (for shame!!!), then the lowest CSU finisher would get 11 points. Bonus points will be awarded for volunteering at the Corporate Challenge, Mt. Washington Road Race & the Tufts 10K (2 points each)!!!

Prizes will be awarded at the Annual Recognition Party for the top CSU female and male Yin Yang scorers. The series features 2 Fresh Pond races, a USATF Grand Prix race, a NER Pub Race, and a local race deserving more exposure.

After each race a report will be posted on CSU’s web site, summarizing the race and providing the results and overall standings. Watch for your June/July Calendar which contains a CSU orange application for the June 17th Flag Day 5k in Brookline! Your September/October Calendar will have the applications for Ollie's 5M and Paddy's Shuffle. You can register for the Fresh Pond races the day of the race.

The races are:
Sunday, June 17 10:30am Flag Day 5K Brookline
Thursday, July 19 6:30pm Fresh Pond Race Cambridge
Saturday, August 18 10:00am Fresh Pond Race Cambridge
Sunday, September 8 10:00am Ollie’s 5M South Boston
Sunday, October 21 11:30am Paddy’s Shuffle 3M Newton
